Mr Michael Tyler
Mr Michael Tyler qualified as a doctor (MB ChB) in 1988 and started his surgical training, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 1992. He gained a Master of Surgery degree (ChM) for scientific research into burns in 1999 and became an accredited plastic surgeon (FRCS (Plast)) in 2000. He completed an aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery fellowship in 2000 in London where he was trained by some of Britain’s leading plastic surgeons at the time. He is a member of the GMC on the Specialist Register as a plastic surgeon and is a member of BAPRAS and BAAPS associations. Mr Tyler has extensive experience as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Stoke Mandeville Hospital NHS Trust where he has developed a specialist interest in breast reconstruction and breast aesthetic surgery. He has an interest and commitment to burns surgery and burns reconstruction.
Private Practice
His private practice is based in the BMI hospitals: in Northampton at the Three Shires Hospital, in Milton Keynes at the Saxon Clinic, at the Shelburne Hospital in High Wycombe, at the Paddocks Clinic in Princes Risborough and the Chiltern Hospital in Great Missenden. Most operations he performs privately are aesthetic (or cosmetic). The principal breast surgery operations are augmentations and reductions, breast reconstructions and surgery for breast asymmetry, all of which also form a significant part of his NHS practice. The majority of other private operations are principally rhinoplasties and blepharoplasties. He regularly collaborates with other surgeons, has annual appraisal and participates in the BAAPS audit.
Other Work
Mr Tyler is the Clinical Director of the Restore which is a charitable organisation which funds and directs the researches of trainee plastic surgeons who are examining ways of reducing scarring in burns victims and scars caused by operations. He has published papers and presented work on a broad range of plastic surgical topics.
