Mr Alastair Platt
Alastair Platt was born in Sheffield and grew up in Yorkshire. He went to school in Hull and studied pre clinical medicine at Cambridge University where he also gained a degree in Zoology. He then moved to Oxford University to study clinical medicine and graduated in 1989. He spent a year as a research fellow in burns at Pinderfields Burn Centre in Wakefield before starting his senior plastic surgery training in units throughout Yorkshire. He undertook a year long fellowship in Plastic Surgery in Adelaide, Australia.
He has worked as a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon since 2001. His NHS base is at the Department of Plastic Surgery, Castle Hill Hospital, Cottingham, East Yorkshire, where he is the Clinical Director of the Plastic Surgery Unit. His sub specialist interests include hand surgery, sarcoma surgery, skin malignancy, breast and general reconstruction.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, a full member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) and the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH).
He has regularly presented at national and international meetings and has over 70 publications and presentations in the field of Plastic Surgery. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Hull York Medical School.
Mr Platt offers cosmetic surgery for individuals who feel the need to revise or change the appearance, structure or position of their features which may otherwise be considered as outside the broad range of "normal." The decision to undergo any cosmetic procedure should not be taken lightly and it is essential to have informed and realistic expectations of the results. Patients are always seen by Mr Platt for their initial consultation. If surgery is decided upon, then it is Mr Platt who carries out the surgery and the aftercare.
Mr Platt is supported by a dedicated team of professionals. Clinics and Operating are carried out at two long established local hospitals— the Hull and East Riding Spire Hospital (formerly BUPA) in Anlaby and St Hughs Hospital in Grimsby. His anaesthetists are all consultants and are members of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
Appointments can be arranged through Mr Platt´s private secretary Gale Gibson on 01482 841228.
