Mr Matt Erdmann

Mr Matt Erdmann FRCS(Plast) is a fully accredited Consultant Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon working in the North East and is a full member of BAAPS and BAPRAS. He consults from and operates at the Spire Washington Hospital in Washington, Tyne and Wear where he performs a full range of aesthetic surgical procedures.  He is currently a member of the MAC on the Spire Washington management team.
He has a particular interest in all facial and breast aesthetic surgery and currently operates on over 300 cosmetic procedures per year.  He has carried out over 2000 breast enlargement and reduction procedures and has a complication rate lower than 2%.
He introduced the BodyJet liposuction technique to the North East of England where it is now increasingly replacing all other methods of liposuction due to its gentle process.  He was also the first surgeon to carry out keyhole carpal tunnel surgery in the UK, and he now carries out over 50 cases per year. As the Lead Clinician in Plastic Surgery based at the University Hospital of North Durham he also oversees all NHS Plastic Surgery within the Durham/Darlington/Sunderland referral areas.
He has 20 years of experience as a Plastic Surgeon and has trained at some of the largest units in the country including London, Edinburgh and Glasgow. He also spent 6 months as a fellow at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia concentrating on hand surgery, microsurgery and mastering fine surgical techniques.
He believes that communication and a full understanding of the procedure are pivotal elements (as well as the surgery itself!) of achieving excellent results as the patient then has realistic expectations of their planned surgery.  He uses demonstrative photographs, videos and digital morphing techniques to help patients make a realistic choice amongst the myriad of procedures available today.
